Donut Hole Eating Contest Features Major League Eaters

The next Henry County 200 bicentennial adventure features professional eaters and a heap of donut holes. Downtown New Castle will be hosting the World Donut Hole Eating Championship on May 27 at the 1400 Plaza as part of the Fourth Friday festivities.

Major League Eating (MLE) is producing this event which will feature top-ranked championship eater Joey Chestnut. Chestnut, a resident of Westfield, Indiana, has won the infamous Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4 a record 14 times. His appearance at the Donut Hole Eating Championship is made possible by a sponsorship from Jack’s Donuts.

During the contest on May 27, Chestnut will battle 11 other professional eaters from MLE to see who can chow down the most donut holes from Jack’s Donuts. The slate of professional eaters is already set for the showdown. In addition to the eating contest, there will be live music, family activities, and food trucks from 6 to 9 pm. The featured music for the evening is Cook & Belle, presenting a powerful mix of country, soul, 60s & 70s music, and gospel.

The event is hosted in connection with Henry County’s 200th birthday celebration. During this event, there will be an opportunity to sign up for the record-setting knockout basketball competition happening June 25. Also happening June 25 is the Hoopla festival including bands, food, and basketball-related activities.

“Jack’s Donuts has a long-standing history of providing the sweetness we crave at celebrations among our community, and this event will be no different,” shared Carrie Barrett, Executive Director of New Castle Main Street. “We appreciate their leadership and partnership for this unique event.”
