Calling all Henry County Runners for a Bicentennial Trek Around the County!

In observance of Henry County’s Bicentennial celebration, a Torch Run will take place over a 65.7-mile route through all 13 townships in Henry County. The event will take place on Saturday, June 4, beginning at Tri High School at 6:00 a.m. and will end in New Castle on the Courthouse square while the time capsule ceremony is taking place. We are currently looking for runners from all 13 townships.

As safety is a primary concern for this event, a police escort will be provided by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and a volunteer-driven support vehicle will follow each runner. The support vehicle will carry runners’ gear, drinks, and snacks, and a trail vehicle from Henry Co. EMS will follow the support vehicle.

Anyone interested in joining the group must be able to complete a  1 mile run in 9 minutes or less, while carrying the 4-pound torch. If running is not an asset of yours, but you’d still like to help, you can cheer on the participants as they pass your home or place of business. You can also donate to the cause in the form of money as a sponsor, or bottles of water, drinks, or other snacks.

If interested in participating in any of the above ways, please contact Nate LaMar at natelamar@cs.com.
