Indiana Whippet Club Spring Derby

Please join Indiana Whippet Club for an exciting weekend of racing. This will be our Derby weekend and that means racing and RAFFLES!!
Saturday, May 4th we will be hosting a 175-yd WRA straight race. Sunday, May 5th we will host a 270-yd NOTRA oval race.

If you would like to donate a basket or item to the raffle, please do! The raffle with take place on Saturday after trophies.

No lunch will be served- please plan accordingly.

Racing will take place at New Castle Memorial Park, New Castle,IN. Saturday will be a 175-yd WRA (first program will be graded) and Sunday will be a 270-yd NOTRA. NOTRA will be a drag lure. Entries are $15 per dog, with a $45 max per household per day, if entries are received by midnight Wednesday, May 1st. Day of meet entries are $20 per dog per day no max.

Pending weather conditions and interest there is the opportunity for Friday evening practice, box training, or qualifying as needed-please indicate in your entry if you will need this. Due to the man-hours involved, please be sure to show up if you request a Friday night practice. There will also be time for practice on Saturday, so if you have a new or young dog that you would like try at racing, come on out!

Please send entry/camping money via PayPal to Annie@wildaboutwhippets.com (PayPal is still not allowing friends/family option for the IWC address).

Roll call will be at 8:30 am EST both days.

Flush toilets on site within walking distance of the track.

Camping is available and encouraged for $35 per day and includes water and electric. Please include camping reservations with your entries. Campsites are first come, first served and specific spots will not be reserved.

There is additional camping 15 minutes from the track at Summit Lake State Park.

First time entrants will need to bring a copy of their AKC registration and $5.00 to cover their WRA/NOTRA registration. You will also need a muzzle and race blankets. Your dog must be able to run without interfering with the other dogs, and be trained to break from the box.

DASH dogs will run on Saturday, so don’t forget your ‘leggy’ pups.

Any and all assistance will be appreciated, especially for line and foul judging. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

Red Roof Inn, Motel 6 and Super 8 motels can be found in Anderson, IN, which is north of New Castle and around 20 minutes from the park.

I agree to abide by the Official Rules and Regulations for racing in effect from those parent racing organizations at the time of this race meet.
